In Texas Hold em you make a combination of the five cards on the table and your two hole cards to get a high hand. In Omaha you only use two of the four hole cards in combination with three board cards (cards on the table) to put together a high hand.
Playing the game
The betting rounds are for online Omaha rules just like in Texas Hold em. There is a dealer who deals the cards, the small blind (blind low) and big blind (blind high). The small blind must first forced bet (half the big blind). The big blind is the second person to the left of the dealer who is forced to bet. Then you get the first round of betting where players can go through the big blind to follow in the level of commitment of the big blind (call) or they may increase (raise), or they can stop (fold).
After the first betting round, you get the flop (first three cards are dealt on the table). You can now stay in the game without having to make a further bet (check). Or if someone has raised, you can call, raise, or fold. If the fourth card is deposited, the turn, you can bet again as before, except that the bets and raises will be doubled.
If the fifth card is exposed, the river, the remaining players for the last bets. Then we get a showdown in which the two best players their hole cards to open up to see who won.
Online Omaha Rules - Limit Omaha Hi Low Poker
It's nice to know that there still exists a variant of Omaha Poker, Limit Omaha Hi Low Poker. The Rules of Poker Limit Omaha Hi Low are almost same as in Omaha, with the difference that you can divide the pot in high and low hands. The low hand consists of a combination of cards lower than nine. Exception to this is 'the wheel', a combination of A, 2, 3, 4, 5.
You can also play at the low hand, so you have to share half the pot with another player with a low hand, and the high hand gets the other half. But if the high hand is stopped, the two players with the low hand split the pot. You see, the Omaha rules are not very complicated when you can play Texas Hold em. It is a nice variety in your game.
